    Hi: When wiring a detached garage or shop with 60 amps #6 teck, Fed from a 60 amp breaker in my house, do i need to:
    1) Have a ground rod at the garage/shop
    2) Have a disconnect at the Garage/shop
    3) Have a Main breaker or just a loadcenter at the garage. CEC Rules? Thanks

    I can't give you the exact code rules because I don't have my code book with me at this time but:

    1. You don't need a ground rod, you only need a ground rod if the feed does not have a ground wire (teck cable has a ground wire), or if the detached building is used to house livestock.

    2. You don't need a disconnect in the shop, the disconnect has to be in the house panel, and the 60A breaker does this job.

    3 The shop panel does not have to be a combination panel, but I here a combination panel might be cheaper than a panel without a main breaker.

    P.S. If you are not using a grounding rod, make sure the neutral-to-ground jumper is removed from the shop panel. The electrical inspector will always look at this.
